Feature Overview
Unlocking and relocating to a new sawmill is the primary way to advance your business and unlock high-tier production capabilities in Lumber Inc. Upgrading acts as a Prestige mechanic: while it resets your physical machinery and current cash balance, it introduces groundbreaking features, new tree variants, automated managers, and a massive, permanent income multiplier that skyrockets your overall revenue potential.
How to Access
You can view the specific progress milestones required for your next expansion by tapping the Sawmill/Factory icon located on the bottom-left corner of your screen.
Core Mechanics
Moving your industrial operations to a new, larger location requires a combination of liquid capital and professional clout. To unlock a new factory tier, you must satisfy the following criteria:
Cash Requirements: You must accumulate the specific amount of in-game cash required by the relocation contract.
Reputation Points: Progression is gated by Reputation Points, a special administrative currency. Unlike normal cash, you cannot earn these points from regular automated milling lines or shipping board orders.
The Workshop Pipeline: To begin collecting Reputation Points, you must build and expand your Workshop, which is located directly to the right of your main sawmill yard.
Fulfilling Structural Orders: Once your Workshop is operational, you can accept specialized construction contracts. Constructing and delivering wooden houses through these workshop orders is the only way to earn the Reputation Points required for your next sawmill upgrade.
Tips and Strategies
Balance Your Resource Stockpile: Workshop orders consume a massive amount of processed timber. Before rushing to upgrade your factory, spend some time stock-piling intermediate materials like cants and boards so you can complete your building projects without creating factory bottlenecks.
Automate Samuel and Build Houses First: Focus on accumulating your required Reputation Points before hoarding your cash. Cash accumulates passively via automation, whereas building houses requires your active input. Get the reputation goal out of the way first!
