In the zombie-infested wasteland of Idle Outpost, you do not have to fight alone. Pets serve as your reliable battle companions. Unlike standard passive boosts, equipped pets actively join you on the battlefield, taking their own combat turns and attacking alongside your survivor using melee or ranged strikes.

This feature unlocks automatically as you progress through early game stages and trade locations.

How Pets Work: Active vs. Owned Skills

Every pet in your collection provides distinct power boosts divided into two unique categories:

  • Equipped Boosts: These special traits only trigger when a pet is actively equipped in your battle loadout. They offer massive field advantages, such as expanding your total combo damage, extending enemy stun durations, or creating unique tactical benefits.
  • Owned Effect: These are permanent global stat buffs that apply to your account simply by owning the pet card. They provide constant boosts to your core Attack (ATK), Health (HP), and Defense (DEF) regardless of whether the pet is equipped or resting.

How to Manage, Equip, and Upgrade Your Pets

Managing your companions is simple and can be done entirely from your character interface.

Managing Your Loadout

  • Navigate to your Combat Gear tab.
  • You can equip up to 5 different pets simultaneously. Additional slots will unlock naturally as you advance through trade locations.
  • Use the Quick Equip button to let the game instantly select and deploy the highest-powered pets in your inventory.
  • Set up multiple custom Loadouts to quickly swap between different pet combinations depending on the battle type.

Card Drawing & Enhancements

  • The Pet Draw: Spend your Pet Vouchers in the Pet Draw menu to look for new companions. Use the built-in slider to spend multiple vouchers at once.

  • Swipe Mechanic: When the cards appear, swipe right to select a card type or swipe left to dismiss it and refresh your choice. You can select up to 5 card types per draw. Divided cards award all displayed copies at once.

  • Upgrading and Enhancing: Collecting duplicate cards awards you pet shards. Upgrading a pet increases its passive stats and boosts its primary active skill. Tap the Enhance button to automatically level up all upgrade-ready pets at once.

Pet Rarities and Animal Types

Pets are categorized by 8 separate tiers of rarity: Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, Exotic, Oblivion, Immortal, and Ethereal. Higher rarities offer significantly higher stat multipliers.

Animal Synergy Bonuses

Pets are also grouped by their biological animal types. If you deploy 2 or more pets of the exact same animal type into your active loadout, you will trigger an active Synergy stat bonus.

Note: Activating these specific team synergies requires specific enhancement items, such as dedicated Herbs or Books.

 Strategy Tips & Tricks

  • Check the Draw Level: Every time you use your vouchers to draw new cards, your overall Pet Draw Level increases. Higher draw levels permanently improve your global probabilities of pulling rarer, high-tier pets.
  • Prepare for Pet Runs: Keep an eye on your unequipped pets! In a specialized Pet Run mission, your companions must fight completely independently without your survivor's help, relying strictly on their personal assigned base stats.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Why are some of my pet slots locked or greyed out?
A: Pet slots are tied directly to your main game progression. Continue traveling to and liberating new post-apocalyptic trade locations to unlock all 5 available slots.

Q: Do my unequipped pets provide any value?
A: Yes! Thanks to Owned Skills, every single pet card you unlock adds a permanent, stacking modifier to your character's global HP, Defense, and Attack values, even if they never enter the battlefield.
